Now, I'm sure most of you have seen or heard of the Fox TV show "New Girl" starring Zooey Deschanel. I wish I could watch more regularly but any-who that's besides the point. It's no secret to anyone who knows me that Zooey is one of my style icons. So I was beyond thrilled when I came across this (see below) on my weekly browse through the Fredflare.com website. As worn on her TV show a pretty, cobalt dress. Love it!
Freaking out just a bit...December is going by so fast and Christmas will be here soon! I'm not even close to finished with my Christmas shopping and the shipping deadline is this week, and I'm leaving in 2 weeks have to pack for that... Ahhhh! ... Okay, all is calmer now. I've finally started listening to Christmas music, here's some for you to listen to in case your late in starting like I am. :)
I'm so behind in everything this month, so much to do and prepare for!! How do you handle the hustle and bustle of the holidays? I have no problem deciding what I like for myself, as you can see below, but for others i'm so indecisive and worried about whether or not I've chosen the right gift. I know that's not what Christmas is about, but I can't help it, there are so many creative, pretty things out there and it's so hard to decide : )
So sad I have to leave my fiance (Yes, you read right, I'm engaged! More on that later) for Christmas & New Years. Wish I could pack him in my suitcase and bring him with me.
Whew! November's been a whirlwind of a month. So many great things in the works, I can't wait! Here's a little bit of music for the last days of November. Now it's to working on my December "Christmas" playlist. Can't wait to share it with you! The holidays always put me in the best of moods. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. :)
The wonderfully talented duo The Civil Wars... I am counting down the days till I get to see them perform live. Come on February!! It'll be the perfect start to my birthday week. :P
This cooler weather puts me such a happy mood. Before I step out to enjoy some sunshine, here are this weeks beautiful things. Hope you are having a wonderful day. :)
Love the orange with gold embroidery shown onthis dress.
This little girls halloweencostumeidea is adorable.
I have a great crafty idea using these gorgeousdrawer liners.
This dress would be perfect for a day spent at an art festival.
I rediscovered a notebook of quotes I had written down a few years ago in a spiral notebook. I'm so glad I came across them again so I could share them with you. The two below come from Toni Morrison, a brilliant novelist. Best known for writing Beloved and Song of Soloman. I can't wait to go home and finish going through my notebook to read other words of wisdom I considered worth saving. :P
On What One Seems To Be & What One Really Is... "and fantasy it was, for we were not strong, only aggressive; we were not free, merely licensed; we were not compassionate, we were polite; not good but well behaved. we courted death in order to call ourselves brave, and hid like thieves from life. we substituted good grammar for intellect; we switched habits to simulate maturity; we rearranged lies and called it truth, seeing in the new pattern of an old idea the revelation and the word" ― Toni Morrison
On Love & Self-Respect...“You think because he doesn't love you that you are worthless. You think that because he doesn't want you anymore that he is right -- that his judgement and opinion of you are correct. If he throws you out, then you are garbage. You think he belongs to you because you want to belong to him. Don't. It's a bad word, 'belong.' Especially when you put it with somebody you love. Love shouldn't be like that. Did you ever see the way the clouds love a mountain? They circle all around it; sometimes you can't even see the mountain for the clouds. But you know what? You go up top and what do you see? His head. The clouds never cover the head. His head pokes through, beacuse the clouds let him; they don't wrap him up. They let him keep his head up high, free, with nothing to hide him or bind him. You can't own a human being. You can't lose what you don't own. Suppose you did own him. Could you really love somebody who was absolutely nobody without you? You really want somebody like that? Somebody who falls apart when you walk out the door? You don't, do you? And neither does he. You're turning over your whole life to him. Your whole life, girl. And if it means so little to you that you can just give it away, hand it to him, then why should it mean any more to him? He can't value you more than you value yourself.” ― Toni Morrison From Song of Solomon.
Do you have a favorite quote? If you'd like to share, I'd love to read them.
I am actually on time with this months music post. Woohoo! These next few weeks are going to busy, busy, busy with painting, reaaranging, decorating and decluttering my little apartment and re-doing my bedroom. I don't know if you're like me but i'm more motivated when I've got great music playing. Getting together a playlist that will keep me painting away this weekend. I'm incredibly excited. :)
Today's post it brought to you buy the word beautiful. Happy 1st day of Autumn everyone!! My favorite season has finally arrived. Now, if only it would get cooler. Regardless, I'm a very happy girl today. Think i'll celebrate with a nice, hot pumpkin spice latte.

Fall is just around the corner and I cannot wait! It's my favorite season of the year! This weeks "beautiful things" post is the beginning of my fall wishlist.
This little cartoon cracked me up, I just had to put on here. After a little over a month of summer activities, visiting my family, family visiting me, work work and more work, I'm finally back to my blogging. I have lots to update on which I hope to get to sooner rather than later and tons of pics to upload and stories to share. *Sigh* How i've missed this... <3
I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my book of paintings done by anartisti've loved for many years. I've wanted this book so and have been diliberating for some time about whether I should spend money I don't have to get it. well, on a random looksee on his website, I discovered it was on sale!! Lucky me! It was a great price and I just had to have it. To make things even better I not only get the book, but also another small book (which I already own) Giveaway in the making perhaps???) and a few other items which will come as a surprise to me. It certainly feels like christmas in July as far as I'm concerned. Please Mr. Postman...HURRY UP! :)
Alrighty, vacation's over! Time to get back to regular posting. so we'll start with this month's music mix. Once summer officially hits, it's on to the beachy tunes...can't wait! :)
Sorry for being MIA for the past few weeks, My sister and I flew out on my dad's birthday and surprised the socks off my dad, brother and sisters. (their expressions were priceless!) We spent a wonderful week with them in HOT San Antonio. Even got to see a bit of Austin. We had such a great time, the days went by so fast! A week wasn't long enough. I definitely foresee moving out there in the near future cause I'm missing my family like crazy. But for now, it's back to reality... not looking forward to unpacking. I'll share some pics soon :)
I'm a still huge fan of animated fims, cartoons, disney movies. Now, before you ask. Yes, my 26 year OLD self can still recite most of the movies/musicals I've loved since childhood. and as ashamed as I am to admit I bought season one of Fraggle Rock a few years back and...I still watch Sesame Street when I happen to catch it on PBS. Hey now, don't judge me...
Here's a new move trailer for the the kid in me (and you) to get out jumpy, smiley and excited over...another Muppet movie!!
Oh common now, you know you want to see it too... : )
What a perfect song for a Monday morning and who better to sing it than one of my favorite actors from the silver screen Donald O'Connor! I think I'm set on buying this film...that is if I can find it...
Here are some tunes to have a listen to for the month of May.
I am on a mission to find some music that I dance and clean to, cause it's always fun to dance while you clean right!? Right...... Anyone have any danceable songs they could recommend to a closet dancer, like me?
"In The Very Near Future"...is a new feature I will be trying out on my blog, and well, it's basically this. If there's an interesting movie, concert or event coming up locally or abroad, I'd like to share the information with you. Your opinions, tips and thoughts on the subject are always welcomed.
It's been a while since I've done a beautiful things post, I will work on being more consistant. Here are some things that caught my eye this week. Enjoy....
First, it's a line from the theme song to a fantastic movie I saw over the weekend. The Young Victoria. I'm such a sap for history, historical dramas and romance, so I absolutely loved the film. If your curious to know more about the film you can view the trailerhere. The movie was delightful to watch, and it is has further urged me to do more research on Victoria and her Prince Albert myself. Any film that makes me want to dig into history and do some reading gets my vote.
Secondly, in retrospect of yesterday [Easter] and the significance the day holds, I think the line [see blog title] perfectly sums what Jesus Christ did for you and I. I was definately taken in by the words the Pastor spoke in Church yesterday morning. That while Jesus Christ died for my sins, so we also will die. It's what happens to us mortals, naturally. His [Jesus] death wasn't the clincher as to the reason I/we have hope, faith, forgiveness and a home waiting for us in Heaven. It's not the reason we "celebrate" Easter. It it because He defeated death and rose again! Because he was risen from the dead, our faith is not futile. He was seen by witnesses and changed lives and is still changing lives today. He took my life and made it beautiful...he saved me from my sins and saved me to a cause. To a life of purpose, struggle, pain, joy, learning, loss and gain...a beautiful life indeed. He can do the same for you too.
As of late, I've been listening, non-stop, to the music of "The Civil Wars". If you haven't had a listen...here's a link to their site. You will love I promise. In my opinion, not only are they a fantastic duo and wonderful cover artists, but also potentially amazing collaborators. I came across this video today, it's of Lucy Swartz (another great artist) who toured a bit with The Civil Wars. The harmonizing in this clip is...well... *sigh. ENJOY!
I was excited to learn that another of my favorite musical artists is coming to town this month Cary Brothers!!! I can't wait! Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
I kid you not, my mother had me in saddle shoes from the tender age of 2 all way thru elementary school. I used to look back at pictures and ask her why she made me wear them all the time...she just laughed. They weren't the only shoes I had, but they were a style she bought again and again. I had them in Black and in Pink...*sigh. If only my mother had kept them. I disliked them for so long...then I came across these. A more grown up version and I am in love! My mother was a stylish one. I told her I should get them for nostalgic purposes. Of course, she told me to get them. I'm debating on whether I should...
Now, I am no artist, but when I saw the shoes I had this idea for a super cute outfit. So I sketched it out and stuck it to my corkboard for inspiration.
Shirt: A vintage, white button up with peter pan collar. Buttons and trim on sleeves/collar are black.
Pants: Skinny ankle jeans, Dark blue was with folded hem.
I am absolutely in love the April catelog for Anthropologie. I'm not exactly sure where the photos were taken but i'd like to imagine they traveled all the way to Cuba for this beautiful shoot. So retro, so exotic, so colorful, so what I needed to see on this rainy, dreary day. Here are some of my fave oufits from April's catelog.
Thanks for visiting my blog. Which, to say, is more like an online journal. I figured cluttering my home with notebooks was getting to be a little much. With eveything I'm into, frankly, I was running out of room.
