Anthropologie: American in Havana

I am absolutely in love the April catelog for Anthropologie.  I'm not exactly sure where the photos were taken but i'd like to imagine they traveled all the way to Cuba for this beautiful shoot. So retro, so exotic, so colorful, so what I needed to see on this rainy, dreary day.  Here are some of my fave oufits from April's catelog.

   Love this dress!...and the car...

Color me...Cobalt

Yesterday,  I bought some beautiful cobalt, stemless wineglasses from Pier 1. (see below) They were a steal and as I love blue hues so very much, I just couldn't pass them up. They go perfectly with the cobalt tumblers I bought a while back. Sidenote: just checked my cell phone and realized my phone cover is cobalt...ironic no? Here are some other lovely items in this beautiful color.

Cobalt glassware

"Bird on a cherry blossom" pillow

Mosaic Blue Stained Glass Mirror

Opal pendant necklace

Is there a color you can't get enough of?

Oh Hello You....Beautiful Things:

Spring is here, and while I'm excited to see all the beautiful blooms and for upcoming trips to the beach. I'm just not ready for temps to hit their 90+ degree mark...Can't it stay breezy and 80 everday of the year!? All complaints aside, Spring brings a colorful array or flowers, delish light recipes, new fashion staples and lots of pretty dresses. The boy and I attended a lovely outdoor wedding of a friend this past weekend. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. I opted against wearing pants (for once) and took the opprotunity to wear a dress. I'm not big on wearing dresses, but I was so surprisingly comfortable in what I wore that found myself wanting more dresses in my closet. So this week, my beautiful things post is full of pretty dresses I'd like to have in my closet...better get my workout on.

This black & white striped dress

                                                                and this blue dress

                                                                       This dress too.

                                                                      And this one.

                                                                             This one

                                                       Lastly, this floral number.

What's your favorite thing about spring??

Another Special Birthday...

Today would have been my Grandpa Ramon's 68th Birthday.

He used to make his own lures... he'd do mini sketches, and create cool lures and other fishing related gadgets.

Antiques Roadshow, a show we watched together whenever we caught it on TV. We'd watch and try to guess the value of the items. I still watch it and think of him every time I do.

He did this trick where he'd pretend to have a broken arm and whenever he'd hit it, it would spin in a circle like a wind mill. A trick I could never do quite do.

Did I mention my grandpa loved fishing? Well he did. He used to fish with his buddies at East River Park in New York and when my family lived in Florida and he came to visit,  there were always trips to the Keys or some beach/pier, sometimes with the entire family other times with "the boys" It was and still is a great passion passed on to his sons and in turn, passed on to their sons. I wish I had the patience for fishing back then. Those times I spent in his back room while he went on about lures, rods, reels, casting or letting me help him. Opening the many film canisters he had on a rack, kind of like the one above, but better. I wish I could still do that with him.  I loved spending time with him.

The Patriot, a movie we watched on more than one occasion. Whether it was b/c it played constantly on TV or b/c we enjoyed the movie that much, I don't remember. But I remember he laughed when the battle scenes came cause I winced and gasped and half covered my eyes. Usually, the movie would be followed by a war documentary or something on the history channel and we'd watched till he decided to go to sleep. He'd turn out the light and hand me the remote. I'd watch the documentary till the end.

It's amazing that you can still miss someone so much, no matter how much time has gone by. It's been 9 years since he passed, it took a year before it really sank in and when it did... Since then, all too often, I come across something or some memory that will remind me of him. I still miss him very much.  Happy Birthday Grandpa.

Blue Diamond Almonds. I'm dying to try the dark chocolate almonds in a yummy breakfast smoothie. Lucky for me I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for these yummy, healthy snacks. They're on sale  this week at my local Walgreens. Here's to smart snacking and things that will help me get on track to a healthier lifestyle. The little things that motivate me :P

I Remember The Day I Turned Twenty-One...

Yup...it was some time ago. Man time flies! Enough about me though.

This is my sister Gabby, she's a real character:

Ever since she was little, her dream was to become a famous actress. I said and still say she should go into the funny business, She's a comedian, she's hilarious, quick-witted and makes the craziest faces. Yea, she's nothing like me. lol but she's great, she's wise beyond her years, is a bookworm and lover of music, anything fashion related, movies and java chip Frappuccinos from starbucks.

Today, my loving, crazy, funny, smart, beautiful sister turns 21!

Happy 21st Birthday Gabrielle!
Wishing you many more happy birthdays to come!
 Love you bunches! xoxo
