In the moments I get to myself, I've realized that I've been in a sort of chilled out, slow, summer mode. I'm not one to embrace the extreme Florida heat, so scouting a shaded area or enjoying the beautiful weather from indoors (window wide open) seems more inviting then the feeling that I'm melting.
I think my music selections reflect that as of late, something that would promote finding a place to enjoy the balmy weather and just relax, think, read, or hum along to the tunes...I don't know about you, but i'm doing some major daydreaming here. lol
I love the original with Nancy Sinatra. This cover, however, has grown on me quite a bit these past few days. Do you have a song currently on repeat that you'd like to share? xoxo
Fall has finally arrived and I couldn't be happier. I just love this time of year. Now...if a cold front would roll in, I'd love it even more. Another thing I love is music...so with that, I'll leave you with October's Playlist. (On time for once) :)
It's been a very emotional month for me. so much so that a few of these here songs on this playlist actually brought tears to my eyes. I guess a good cry is needed every now and again....Well I'll make this post short, have a zillion things to do today and not enough time or energy.
I hope you enjoy July's playlist. I promise the music isn't depressing as I'm making it seem. I've included a song I'm going to include in my wedding! (That song brought me happy tears)
Alrighty, vacation's over! Time to get back to regular posting. so we'll start with this month's music mix. Once summer officially hits, it's on to the beachy tunes...can't wait! :)
As of late, I've been listening, non-stop, to the music of "The Civil Wars". If you haven't had a listen...here's a link to their site. You will love I promise. In my opinion, not only are they a fantastic duo and wonderful cover artists, but also potentially amazing collaborators. I came across this video today, it's of Lucy Swartz (another great artist) who toured a bit with The Civil Wars. The harmonizing in this clip is...well... *sigh. ENJOY!
I was excited to learn that another of my favorite musical artists is coming to town this month Cary Brothers!!! I can't wait! Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
I'm a little late with the music post this month. Okay more than a little, but better late than never right?
If you haven't had a chance to listen to The Civil Wars, you are missing out. I've put a few of their songs on the playlist. I could have easily put the whole album up because it's THAT good. I've listened to the entire album 4 times straight through. Can't remember the last time I've done that... anywho, hope you enjoy!
Tomorrow can't come soon enough!! My sister won tickets to see The Script and guess who she's taking??? That's right, moi! I couldn't be more excited! I have to admit, we are more excited about the special guest, the amazingly talented Josh Radin, than the main artist...is that wrong? Anywho, in preparation for the amazing concert. Here is a special music list of songs by both artists. :)
Sitting curled up on the couch, Her Daniel Steele novel tossed carelessly aside. She sits, deep in thought. The emptiness of the room soon envelopes her; causing her thoughts to stray back to just a few hours earlier. When the room was filled with laughter & lively conversation, with the sighs, sounds of kisses & passionate play.
Scanning the empty room; eyeing the remnants of moments. Wine glasses sitting half empty on the coffee table next to an empty bottle of Pinot Grigio. Half eaten Chinese take out left out on the kitchen counter & the movie menu for An Affair To Remember, forgotten, & playing repeatedly in the background. The sad melody, only half drowned out by the pitter patter of the rain beating against the windows.
Chills run down her spine, she gathers her sweater around her for warmth & stares longingly out across the room. His warmth has left her, the quick, rhythmic beating of her heart has since subsided. She closes her eyes, breathes deeply & for a split second she can smell him. But, he's been gone awhile now, only memories of the time remain & the faint scent of his cologne that lingers still.
Though I'm bummed the Killers are no more, I have to admit the new album by Brandon Flowers is pretty rad. If you like the song/video above and have a chance to check out the new album, check out a few other great songs "Only the Young" and "Jacksonville" My ears are VERY happy right now. :)
A young mother sits, a box of crinkled, yellowed papers before her. All those years, so many letters. so many memories, so much love. She sits and reads the letters written to her by her mother. discreetly wiping the tears from her eyes...
She sits, remembering her mother and the gentle person she was. Now she takes out sheet of paper & begins to write She looks out the window, Smiling as she watches her little one play
Her little angel, with auburn locks glimmering in the summer sun. Her tiny hands toss and drop a bright red ball. Her little feet scamper across the lawn to catch it.
She continues writing, her heart jumbled with emotions. Looking up, she stops to feel the warm breeze across her face, Like the warmth of her mothers hands when they once held her close.
She finishes her letter, seals it with a kiss. and places it in a newly painted pink box, Joining a few other letters that have come before it.
Slowly, she makes her way outside, Still watching her little girl laugh and play. She pauses a moment to pick a tiny flower growing on a bush, Picks off the petals and sighs quietly. So many memories...
The little girl sees her mother and smiles. A beaming smile this mother would never forget, She watches her little girl run toward her with open arms. She falls to knees, laughing, and gathers her daughter in her arms. Cradling her, rocking back and forth, as her daughters laughter fills the air.
Her table by the window at El Cafe' Salambo was perfectly positioned for taking in the view of the lively streets of GrĂ¡cia. She was intoxicated, not by the wine glass in her hand but by the people and the fervor they portrayed in life, the arts and love. Sipping slowing, she stared. Taking in the scenery; her eyes never leaving the streets. She could hear the faint sound of the spanish guitar, it's beautiful melody followed by rhytmic clapping. Flamenco music. At the far corner of the square, among the crowds of people, a woman danced. Entranced, she left the cafe' and ventured towards the music. she saw her. A woman, with hair black as the raven, swept into a bun.with a single rose behind her ear and a black dress that clung perfectly and swayed gracefully then violently as she turned. Her eyes piercing and her movements fluid and strong. It was as if she had ventured into a place no one could follow, exhibiting a feeling no one could understand. The concentration she displayed was intriguing, There was such amazing grace and power. A few little girls began a dance of their own, giggling, trying to mimic the beautiful dancer. A man selling flowers placed tiny flowers in their hair. They jumped and smiled in excitement. All too soon, the music stopped and the crowd broke away, she stayed there a few minutes more to watch the woman and the musicians pack away their instruments. then they were gone. Disappearing like ghosts into the crowded streets. Leaving behind only the memory of the music.
Thanks for visiting my blog. Which, to say, is more like an online journal. I figured cluttering my home with notebooks was getting to be a little much. With eveything I'm into, frankly, I was running out of room.
